The name Hashmi is a name that my family inherited According to my family’s history, we descend from the clan of Banu Hashim, the clan of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) which who my family descended from it is a name my family has not used in decades due to migration & fear of being persecuted against and when they moved to modern day Spain they changed the name to one of my other names in my family,

My Great Grandfather was adopted from Spain into the United States when he was a infant and never knew his origin or his old name which is why I have the last name Bryant instead of Hashmi
